The Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations are pleased to coordinate an internal call for proposals to the Brain Research Foundation Fay/Frank Seed Grant Program. The Brain Research Foundation’s Annual Seed Grant Program was initiated in 1981. The purpose of this program is to provide start-up monies for new research projects in the field of neuroscience that will likely lead to extramural funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or other outside funding sources.
The objective of the BRF Seed Grant Program is to support new and innovative projects, especially those of junior faculty, who are working in new research directions. The maximum award amount is $80,000 for a two-year grant period. BRF Seed Grant awards are not intended to supplement existing grants. Only Assistant and Associate Professors (tenure-track and tenured) are eligible to apply; research faculty are not eligible to apply. Please note that faculty salary is not an allowable cost.
USC may only submit one proposal to this competition. The USC internal deadline for pre-proposals will be Monday, November 20 by 5pm. The Brain Research LOI deadline is January 8, 2018. Pre-proposals should be e-mailed to Beth Herron (bherron@mailbox.sc.edu). The pre-proposal should consist of a two-page summary of your project in 10 point font or larger and an NIH-formatted biosketch.
