The Brain Research Foundation:Seed Grant ProgramProgramThe Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of Corporate and Foundation Philanthropy are pleased to coordinate an internal call for proposals to the Seed Grant Program of the Brain Research Foundation (BRF).
The BRF Annual Seed Grant Program was initiated in 1981. The purpose of this program is to provide start-up monies for new research projects in the field of neuroscience that will likely lead to extramural funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or other outside funding sources.
The goal of the BRF is to have their grants lead to future opportunities in research, collaboration, and scientific achievement.
The objective of the BRF Seed Grant Program is to support new and innovative projects, especially those of junior faculty, who are working in new research directions.
The maximum award amount is $80,000 (direct costs only) for a two-year grant period. BRF Seed Grant awards are not intended to supplement existing grants.
Only Assistant and Associate Professors (tenure-track and tenured) are eligible to apply; research faculty are not eligible to apply. Assistant Professors should have a new research project that will generate pilot data to lead to R01 funding; Associate Professors must be pursuing a new research direction. Please note that faculty salary is not an allowable cost.
USC may only submit one proposal to this competition. The USC internal deadline for pre-proposals will be Friday, November 1 by 5pm. The Brain Research LOI deadline is January 7, 2020. Pre-proposals should be e-mailed
