The William T. Grant Scholars Program supports career development for promising early-career researchers. This competitive funding mechanism will provide $350,000, distributed over five years. The Foundation supports research in two distinct focus areas: 1) Reducing inequality in youth outcomes, and 2) Improving the use of research evidence in policy and practice. Proposed research must address questions that align with one of these areas.
Applicants must be nominated by their institutions. Major divisions (e.g., College of Arts and Sciences, Medical School) of an institution may nominate only one applicant each year.
Important dates:
• The USC internal deadline for this Call for Proposals is 5:00 pm on Monday, April 15, 2024.
• Applicants will be notified if they are selected to go forward to the external William T. Grant Foundation deadline the week of May 13
• Please note: Mentor and reference letters are due by June 12, 2024
• Proposals are due to the Foundation by July 3.

Submission Process
Limited submissions MUST be coordinated with the Office of the Vice President for Research.
If interested in applying for this opportunity, email a two-page project abstract that includes a clear outline/statement of how the applicant meets the Selection Criteria, including information on the Applicant (potential to become an influential researcher; ability to expand expertise through this grant) and the Research Plan (see page 16 of the RFP). At the top of your abstract provide the both the PI’s and mentor’s name, college, and department (or institution if the mentor is external). Additionally, please include a 2-3 page CV/biosketch for the PI by 5pm on the INTERNAL DEADLINE above to Beth Herron at bherron@mailbox.sc.edu.
