Community
University 101 is one of the best places to make friends who are new to campus just like you. The course is specifically designed to have small group and large class discussions that build meaningful connections and lasting friendships. Most U101 sections have both a peer leader and a lead professor. The team offers a college graduate’s perspective and an upperclassman’s advice about how to make good decisions in college and make the most of your four years at Carolina!
Campus Connection
A large portion of U101 classroom discussions involve learning more about the University of South Carolina and its campus! From learning the Carolinian Creed to exploring landmarks located throughout campus, it’s easy to connect to Carolina when you have the resources to do so right inside your classroom. Not only is our campus beautiful, but it’s also full of hidden information you might not have known without taking this course!
Student Involvement
Finally, the most exciting reason to take University 101 is to discover just how easily you can get involved on campus. Outside of looking at our 500+ student organizations on Garnet Gate, U101 allows you to meet with classmates and find students with similar interests right inside your classroom. You’ll not only be in a classroom full of your newest friends, but you’ll also be in a room full of peers experiencing the same things as you, which makes getting involved much easier!
