Columbia, South Carolina prides itself on creating a warm and welcoming art community. The talent here is endless and goes beyond pen and paper – from contemporary artists, abstract painters, recyclable jewelry designers and more. The best part is, there are many studios to view local art.
Here are seven places where you can view art in Columbia:
Tapp’s Outpost
Located in Five Points, this art venue is all about supporting local artists and entrepreneurs.
The venue is home to 12 studios housing local artists, but it has an exhibition space
that allows for any artist to showcase their work.
City Art
City Art is located in the heart of the Vista on Lincoln street. This venue has a
gallery space, event space, creates custom framing and sales art supplies, making
it a one-stop shop for all things art!
Columbia Museum of Art
Columbia Museum of Art is just that – a museum of art! From modern to contemporary,
it has many different exhibitions to show the different forms, styles and medians
of art. Just last year they had a Vincent Van Gogh exhibition!
Storm Water Studios
This art venue is located close to Columbia’s Vista area and is home to 11 different
artist studios. Like the other venues, it hosts different exhibitions throughout the
year where you can view and buy art.
701 Center for Contemporary Art
701 Center for Contemporary Art is located on Whaley street and showcases, well, contemporary
art! This venue is known for its exhibitions, event space, art workshops and an art
summer camp!
State of the Art Gallery and Pottery Studio
This venue’s mission is to connect the community to art! Occupied by 26 different
artists, they host many exhibitions, pottery sessions and are available for parties
and events.
House of Frames and Paintings
While this is a shop that sells custom frames and lighting, it doubles as a gallery
that sponsors many local artists. Of course, you can visit this venue throughout the
year to see different exhibitions!
