Communication is one of the most popular university majors in the United States because effective communication is essential to your personal and professional success. It is the only academic discipline that focuses exclusively on the exchange of messages to create meaning.  We explore what, when, where and why humans interact.  Learning about communication theories, research, and best practices makes you a better communicator in relationships, in the community, and at work.

Prerequisites & Requirements

To apply for this online degree program, students must have:

  • 45-60 credit hours from a regionally accredited institution
  • Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Recommended completion of the following courses:
    • Composition
    • Composition and Literature
    • Natural Science with a Lab
    • Two Social or Behavioral Science courses
    • Humanities course
    • World Civilization
    • American History or American Government

 

Program Length

If you're a full-time student, the program should take about 2 years -- the same as if you were attending class in-person. If you work, you may need to take a lighter course load. Talk to an advisor about how to balance Palmetto College classes with your schedule.
