The scholarship, named in honor of Thomas L. Stepp, provides $2,000 per academic year, renewable for three years as long as the student completes 24 semester hours each school year and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the end of each academic year. A student may receive the award in addition to a general University scholarship or departmental scholarship.
To Apply
Applicants must be high school seniors who have been admitted to the incoming freshman class at the University of South Carolina.
Applicants must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid and submit it to the the USC Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships by April 1.
Selection
A Board of Visitors committee will select five finalists after reviewing each applicant's application, and academic and financial information. The top student will be offered the scholarship with a response date of May 1. If the scholarship is declined, the next student will be offered the scholarship.
