Get Involved at USC
The University of South Carolina's Office of Student Life offers a wide array of opportunities to get involved on campus and in the community.
Leadership and Service Center
With over 500 clubs and organizations, our Gamecock Gateway students are sure to find something they are interested in pursuing while at Carolina. The Leadership and Service Center connects students with opportunities for involvement, leadership development, service, and civic engagement.
- Check out GarnetGate to find the right student organization for you.
- Find meaningful service opportunities that impact fellow Carolina students, Columbia, and the world.
Campus Recreation
Campus Recreation offers access to two fitness facilities -- Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center and Solomon P. Blatt PE Center. Both facilities have weight and cardio equipment as well as swimming pools.
- Purchase a Group X pass each semester to attend fitness classes
- Sign up for intramural sports with your friends
- Explore South Carolina and the great outdoors with an Outdoor Recreation bike trip or hike
Office of Multicultural Student Affairs
OMSA offers space and programming for students with diverse backgrounds and identities.
- Join a student organization like the Association of African American Students (AAAS) or Individuals Respecting Identities and Sexualities (IRIS)
- Check out Hip Hop Wednesday hosted on Greene St. each month

Gamecock Gateway Peer Consultants are students who have completed at least one academic year and are made up of former Gateway students, transfer students, and other USC students passionate about helping others. They will meet with students one-on-one and in group settings in Bates House. GGPC's will meet with students individually and discuss academic success strategies such as time management, goal setting, study strategies, etc. They will also staff the desk in the Bates House Study Lounge and offer printing support.
The Peer Tutoring program at the Student Success Center provides quality, course-specific academic support to USC undergraduate students at no cost. Peer tutors are undergraduate students who have excelled in the course they tutor and have been trained to facilitate discussions on course content, study skills and strong academic habits.
