Preston Residential College stimulates intellectual exchange, leadership development, and community involvement. Our goal is to foster leaders who have a strong sense of civic responsibility and an understanding of the community at Carolina and beyond.

 

USC's only Residential College

Think of Preston like Hogwarts — magic happens here. A residential college creates a small-school experience on a large campus.

• Build community by sharing meals.
• Interact with faculty and staff in unique ways outside the classroom.
• Take special courses only available to Preston students.

 

Suite- or Pod-Style Living

In our suite-style rooms, two people share a room and two rooms share a bathroom. In the Preston pods, three double rooms, each with a private baths share a common area in which a full-size refrigerator and private living space are included. There are no stoves in our pods.

Leadership and Service

Preston is home to four organizations created, managed and led by students. Whether you’re interested in arts, service, government, or innovation, Preston offers a foundation for leadership development or taking your leadership skills to the next level.

Academic Opportunities

Preston offers special courses specifically for residents. Our unique Preston Scholars Program complements Graduation with Leadership Distinction. For re-application purposes, residents must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Community and Culture

Preston’s tight-knit community empowers students to build long-lasting connections. Engage with new and returning residents through the Preston Mentor Program, and Preston faculty and staff, through the Adopt-an-Associate program.

Preston helped me develop my passion for advocacy and research. I would not be the confident and competent person, student, and researcher I am today without Preston.
