Accelerated Bachelors/Graduate Degree Program

Current undergraduate students pursuing a degree in the field with a GPA of 3.5 or above may apply during the spring of your junior year or in the semester in which you reach 90 undergraduate credit hours.

How to Apply

You'll start by speaking with your current advisor to discuss whether the program is the right option for you. Then you'll begin the search for a faculty advisor willing to mentor you as a master's or PhD student. The next step is completing the Accelerated Bachelor's/Graduate Study Plan through the USC Graduate School and a statement of purpose explaining why you want to enter the program.

You'll also need to submit an overview of your research plan and details of available support, a letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor, and an updated resume or CV.

Use our application checklist [pdf] to ensure you have everything you need to apply. The checklist will also serve as the cover sheet for your application.

Research Requirements

We suggest that you explore our faculty's areas of research before completing your application. Candidates for this program must arrange to participate in a research project in a faculty member’s research program prior to applying, so if you aren't already working on research, you should  reach out to faculty members who share your research interests to discuss potential projects.

Admission and Financial Support

Your application to the accelerated bachelor's/graduate study plan does not guarantee you admission to a specific SEOE graduate program or financial support. Nor does acceptance to the accelerated degree plan obligate you to stay at USC for your graduate work! Instead, it merely confirms your interest in pursuing a graduate degree and allows you to start taking graduate courses during your senior year of undergraduate study. Students are encouraged to apply to other graduate degree programs.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
