Every year, outstanding seniors in the UofSC College of Engineering and Computing are recognized by the college’s faculty and the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers. The award recipients are selected based on their academic excellence, undergraduate research participation and active involvement in the college or university community. Here are the Computer Science and Engineering Department’s Spring 2020 Outstanding Senior Award recipients.

Samyuktha Comandur, Outstanding Senior Award

“It was really kind of them to recognize me. I really appreciate Dr. Thatcher and the whole computer science department for always looking for opportunities to uplift women. The professors in the computer science department have always been supportive – like, just sending a group of women to Grace Hopper every year or like, with all the professors looking for ways to help all the students here. It’s always been an incredibly supportive faculty group and I am really grateful they were able to support me in this way as well.”

Andres Pineda, Outstanding Senior Award

“It makes me very happy knowing that all the hard work I have put in is getting recognized and is being rewarded. I didn’t expect this, it was out of nowhere. I was just going through my email and I see this award pop up and I was just like, ‘wow.’ I was very happy and it felt really rewarding being recognized for what I have done.”
