Caroline Jones (B.S. ’08, PMBA ‘15) now works as a National Accounts Sales Executive for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. Jones earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing and economics, but her time with Moore School did not stop with her bachelor’s degree — she completed the Professional MBA (PMBA) program in 2015 while working a full-time job.
Jones graduated the same year as the 2008 stock market crash. With limited positions available to graduates, she treated applying to positions as a full-time job. This eventually led to the opportunity to work in group sales at BlueCross BlueShield. During her time there, Jones worked her way up to the National Alliance, assisting with accounts throughout the country.
Jones said the Moore School taught her many valuable lessons that are important to her career, especially in day-to-day work.
“We had a lot of public speaking at the Moore School, and that’s what I do for a living,” she said. “It was a huge advantage for me coming into this role.”
An experience that stood out to Jones especially was her time in the PMBA program. She was at first hesitant to pursue her MBA because she would have to balance her job at BlueCross BlueShield and being pregnant with her first child. However, she found the program to be incredibly flexible.
The PMBA program was very beneficial to her career and allowed her to meet professionals from different areas and learn from their experiences.
“It was great to meet so many people from different industries and see what their industry does well,” said Jones. “It was a wonderful experience both in strategy and working with other teams.”
Beyond professional experience, her time at the Moore School was fulfilling in other ways. Jones spent a semester studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain, which taught her an important lesson in independence.
Although studying abroad was an exciting experience for her, perhaps the most exciting story from her college career was meeting her husband, Trey Jones, a 2008 graduate in marketing, during her senior year.
Jones and her husband live in Columbia and have two children together.
