Background
Ozgur (Oz) Ince is the Director of AI Initiatives and a Clinical Professor of Finance at the Darla Moore School of Business. He received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Istanbul Technical University, a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Florida.
Teaching
Ince has taught Introduction to Finance since joining the University of South Carolina in 2014 and has taught more than 15,000 undergraduate students at the Moore School. In 2017, he received the Alfred G. Smith Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Darla Moore School of Business. In 2024, he received the Michael J. Mungo Undergraduate Teaching Award, the university's highest honor for undergraduate teaching.
AI Leadership
Ince leads the Moore School's efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into teaching, learning and business education as the Director of AI Initiatives and the chair of the school's AI Initiative Committee. He previously served on the Provost's AI Task Force on the Use of AI Tools in Teaching and Learning and the Task Force for the Ethical and Responsible Use of GenAI in Graduate Education. He was a member of the inaugural class of University AI Teaching Fellows and has helped lead faculty and staff development through workshops, presentations and other programming focused on the effective and responsible use of AI.
Research
Ince's research focuses primarily on investments and corporate finance, with particular emphasis on institutional investors and market efficiency. His research has been published in the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Research and Quarterly Journal of Finance.
