Dr. Nell Sins, Professor Emerita at the University of South Carolina, earned the Bachelor of Music and the Master of Music in Musicology from the Eastman School of Music. Dr. Sins earned the Doctor of Education at the University of Georgia, where she also became a registered Music Therapist.

Dr. Sins taught for ten years at public and private schools in Tampa, Florida, Houston, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Sins came to the University of South Carolina in 1974, where she taught Music Education courses, with an emphasis on Early Childhood Music Education. While at the Music Department she introduced and implemented the Preschool Music Program, the Children's Choir School, and Children's Concerts where she invited faculty to perform for the children. Dr. Sins also presented workshops throughout South Carolina for training music teachers to work with special students.

Nell Sins was published in the Music Educators Journal, Applications of Research in Music Education, The Physical Educator, Perspectives in Music Education Yearbook, and the South Carolina Musician. Dr. Sins also gave National presentations in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Chicago, Illinois: Atlanta, Georgia; Anaheim, California; Omaha, Nebraska; Nashville, Tennessee; and New Orleans, Louisiana.

Following retirement in 1997 from the University of South Carolina, Dr. Sins researched the history of Atlanta at the turn of the century.
