Background 

Diego Altomare, Ph.D., joined the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy as manager of the Microarray Core Facility in September 2010. He has more than 14 years of experience in all aspects of microarray experimental design, RNA processing and labeling, microarray hybridization and scanning, and data analysis using both the Agilent Technologies and the Affymetrix (Thermo Fisher Scientific) platforms.

Research Interests

Altomare provides training and support on the isolation of DNA and RNA from difficult samples and assesses quality of isolated nucleic acids. Other areas of expertise include fragment analysis, Sanger and next generation sequencing. He is interested in performing and providing support to the University of South Carolina and other scientists to conduct genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics and functional genomics research projects. Altomare brings new state of the art technologies to the facility.
