Research and Teaching Interests

Dr. James Stampley is focused on gaining a better understanding of the short- and long-term metabolic and bioenergetic adaptations to various types of exercise, dietary, and medical interventions in individuals, particularly in skeletal muscle. He is interested in studying populations with high-stress lifestyles, such as athletes, military, and first responders, as well as young and older adults at risk for or with cardiometabolic diseases and other special populations. Additionally, he aims to investigate new and effective interventions relating to achieving peak physical performance in various aspects of life to mitigate age-related declines in health. Moreover, Dr. Stampley seeks to comprehend the independent and combined effects of prolonged sitting and physical inactivity on skeletal muscle and whole-body physiology. Dr. Stampley completed his PhD in Exercise Physiology at Louisiana State University.
