Lab Overview
Welcome to the Translational Auditory Neuroscience Lab at the University of South Carolina, where our main and overarching goal is to enhance our understanding of human communication and improve the quality of life for individuals with hearing impairments. Research in our lab focuses on the neuroscience of human communication and hearing impairment across the lifespan, from infancy to aging populations. We employ a combination of behavioral, computational, and neuroimaging techniques to investigate the mechanisms and factors influencing auditory, speech, and language outcomes in individuals with typical and impaired hearing, with a particular focus on listeners with cochlear implants. We use the knowledge to develop improved diagnostic tools and personalized interventions for individuals with hearing impairment, moving toward our overarching goal of improving human communication and quality of life for those with hearing impairments.
