Background
Jennifer Bosio-McArdle joined the College of Social Work as a clinical faculty member in 2022. She currently serves as the Interim Program Coordinator for the Bachelor of Social Work Program. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses. She provides curricular leadership for the competency-based BSW capstone course and undergraduate generalist practice with organizations and communities courses. She served as an integral member of the field education team for 13 years, as the Assistant Director of Field Education from 2018 – 2021, and the MSW Field Placement Coordinator from 2008 – 2018.
In these leadership roles, she managed practicum logistics to ensure students, field instructors, and task supervisors were adequately prepared to engage in field education courses while maintaining compliance with accreditation standards defined by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). She coordinated and served as the lead facilitator for new field instructor and task supervisor trainings, facilitating over 50 trainings, and co-facilitating annual program and student trainings. She has supervised over 15 BSW/MSW social work students as an offsite field instructor and as a field liaison for more than 150 students in their respective practicum organizations.
She maintains over 9 years of teaching experience as a teaching instructor in the BSW program primarily teaching the undergraduate practicum seminar courses; SOWK 382 - Introduction to Field Education and SOWK 483 - Practicum Seminar. She received the College of Social Work BSW Educator of the Year award in 2014, 2017, 2019, and 2022 and the Two Thumbs Up Award from the University of South Carolina Student Disability Resource Center in 2017. Prior to joining the college, she worked in a residential treatment facility and a supported apartment program in Connecticut with adults with co-occurring severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders and as a case manager for adults with developmental disabilities.
Bosio-McArdle received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Elms College located in Chicopee, MA, and earned her Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She loves cooking, spending time at the local farmers market, exercising, and spending time with her family and three cats – Bella, Bailey, and Bourbon.
