Note that if you get a new cell phone, you need to set up Duo authentication on that new phone.

Reach out to your professor via email—which can be found in the USC email address book or your course syllabus—and ask for guidance. They may have advice tailored to the problem(s) you are experiencing. Also, take time to review the Guide to Online Learning for suggestions on how to succeed in your online classes.

Visit Blackboard FAQs for solutions to common problems. You should also contact your instructor directly for advice specific to your class.

Office 365 is FREE for USC Salkehatchie students.  Use the step-by-step instructions to install the software on your devices.

To download a Google Doc as a Word document:

  1. At the top left of the Google Doc, click “File.”
  2. Scroll over “download” and click “Microsoft Word (.docx).”
  3. Find the location that you want to save the file and click “save."

To download a Pages document as a Word doc:

  1. Open the Pages doc you’d like to convert.
  2. Click File in the top left corner.
  3. Select Export To >> Word.
  4. Click Next in the bottom right corner.
  5. Create a name for your exported doc, and where to save it, click Export.

Tthe following programs do not work on a Chromebook:

  • Microsoft 365 personal (but the cloud version works!)
  • Respondus
  • Examplify

For other programs, it is best to get in contact with your professor. But here are instructions for several common programs at USC Salkehatchie:

All students have access to computer labs and the library during normal hours, as long as campus remains open. If the campus should close, students will not be able to access campus resources.

USC Salkehatchie has purchased laptops and mobile hotspots to loan to students who do not have internet access.

You may also be able to visit a local county library, or if you are a high school student, your school may have resources available. Ask your instructor about availability of these resources.
