All USC Salkehatchie students, regardless of status, and all USC system students, as long as they are in good standing.

Any person who is over 15 years of age and resides in the campus service area. A responsible parent or guardian must come to the library to sign an application form for those under 18 years of age, and be responsible for any fines or other charges.

Any person may use the LRC facilities for personal research or study. Patron’s under 15 must be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian. Children must be with a parent or guardian at all times.

Reference materials do not circulate.

USC students are limited to 10 books checked out at any time.

Non-student users are limited to 5 books at any one time with no more than three books on one topic.
A properly validated student ID or borrower’s card must be presented at the circulation desk in order to check out materials from the libraries. Student ID cards must be validated each semester at registration. Non-student borrower cards are revalidated voluntarily once a year. A card that has not been validated before the termination date will be removed from the registration file. Valid statewide borrowing cards are accepted for the stated research period.
Faculty – Books, an initial three week period with renewals up to one academic semester, subject to recall after initial three weeks. AV and computer software, four weeks and one renewal. Periodicals, two day check-out except for most recent issue. Bound periodicals do not circulate.
Students & non-students – Books, three weeks with one renewal. Selected AV, three weeks with no renewal. No software or periodicals circulate.
Reserve Material – as designated by faculty member.
Interlibrary loans – two to four weeks depending on lending library policy.
Students, faculty and staff may access (Patron Empowerment) the current status of your library account through “My Account” located on the USCAN web page.

Fines are $.25 per day for most items.

A patron having overdues or owing $1.00 or more in overdue fines will lose checkout privileges until the fines have been cleared. Holds will be placed against records for anyone who still has library obligations at the end of the semester. The charge for a lost book is a minimum of $45.00 plus a $10.00 overdue fee plus $10.00 service charge. Items costing over $45.00 are charged at their replacement cost.
