Welcome to the USC Union Family! Now that you have been admitted, we invite you to use this page as a new student checklist in preparation for the upcoming semester.

New Student Checklist

Expand all1. Activate your Student Account

• Set up your account. (You will need the VIP ID from your acceptance letter to claim your account)
• Be sure to save your user name, user id, email and password. 
• Account Claiming for Admitted Students.

2. Explore your Financial Aid options

• Begin the financial aid process by completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).
• Be sure to add USC Union’s school code, 004927.
• Please note: Students starting in the fall semester must complete the 2025-2026 application.
• Complete the USC Union Scholarship Application.

3. Verify your Residency Status

• If you haven’t already done so, complete your Residency verification form and send it to unadmissions@mailbox.sc.edu.
• You can also verify your residency status in Self Service Carolina under Admissions
• If you would like to check your status, call 864-424-8011.

4. Register for Orientation

• Please register below for orientation. 
• Orientations will begin at 10:00am. Please park in the Main Building parking lot at 401 East Main Street. Union SC 29379.
• If you are unable to attend any of those orientations please contact the Office of Admissions at 864-424-8011 or unadmissions@mailbox.sc.edu.

5. Register for Classes

• Once you rsvp for an orientation session, you will be assigned an academic advisor and their contact information will be sent to you so that you can make an appointment.
• Register for classes through Self Service Carolina under the Student tab.
• Click here for course registration tutorials.

6. Submit your Final Transcripts 

• You must submit your final high school and/or college transcript to the Admissions Office. They can be sent by your guidance office or school administrator or sent electronically.
• If you would like to confirm if these have been received, call 864-424-8011.

7. Verify your Citizenship Status

• If you haven’t already done so, complete your Citizenship verification form and send it to unadmissions@mailbox.sc.edu.
• If you would like to check your status, call 864-424-8011.

8. Provide proof of your Immunizations

• If you haven't uploaded your immunization information, please upload your immunization data to MyHealthSpace. 
• View a step-by-step tutorial about uploading your immunization information
• Watch a short video about uploading your immunization information
• You can also bring your immunization records to an orientation session.
   

9. Math and Foreign Language Placements

• These are not required for your first semester, but we encourage you to talk with your academic advisor about the options.
