The USC Salkehatchie Leadership Institute (SLI) was established to help stimulate economic development in the areas it serves—Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Colleton and Hampton counties. To fulfill that purpose, we invest in our community members and empower them with the knowledge and skills needed to cultivate progress within our region.
Since its inception in 1998, SLI has delivered a wide variety of programs and services which have increased leadership capacity, assisted current and prospective small business owners, fostered the formation of regional organizations and provided workforce development services to K - 12 students.
The institute oversees programs in its three areas of emphasis:
- Leadership Development
- Community and Economic Development
- Business and Workforce Development
Leadership Institute staff are always seeking to find new opportunities to expand services that will improve the lives of all citizens in USC Salkehatchie's service area.
