Teacher Cadet
USC Salkehatchie partners with numerous high schools in the region to sponsor the Teacher Cadet program. The program encourages academically able students who possess exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills to consider teaching as a career. Using an innovative approach to attract talented young people to the teaching profession, the program seeks to provide high school students insight into the nature of teaching, the problems of schooling and the critical issues affecting the quality of education in America's schools. These future community leaders gain insights about teachers and schools so that they can become civic advocates of education.
Career Opportunities
The program provides teacher education candidates with a wide range of practical experiences in public and private education settings. Each teacher education candidate is given a broad liberal arts and general education foundation as well as specific information regarding elementary education.
