Background
Keith Britton has over 20 years of experience in higher education. He currently serves
as the Director of Admissions Services for the University of South Carolina Sumter.
His responsibilities include overseeing the recruitment, initial counseling, and processing
units for the University. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member. He is a certified
Educational Consultant, and internationally certified as a Global Career Development
Facilitator and instructor.
Britton’s professional affiliations include the Southern Association of Collegiate
Registrars and Admissions Officers, the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars
and Admissions Officers, and the ACT Regional State Organization. He is a Tuomey Fellow
and serves on the Appeals Committee for the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education
Actively involved in his local community, he is a founding member of the Progressive
Professional Network. As the past Chairman of the Leadership Sumter Board of Regents
for the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce, he led the Chamber’s leadership training
program for over a decade and continues to create and deliver leadership development
programs. He is also a past president of the South Carolina Professional Association
for Access and Equity and currently serves on the Presidents Council for the organization.
Serving internationally, Britton is the Chairman of the AME Church Lay Organization
Organizational and Officer Effectiveness Committee and is a member of the General
Board for the Connectional Church. In 2019 he was elected President of the Seventh
Episcopal District Lay Organization to lead the lay ministry of the 500 plus AME churches
throughout the state of South Carolina. He travels extensively conducting workshops
on college planning, career development, strengthening lay organizations, team building,
organizational effectiveness, professionalism, and a variety of other topics. He is
a member of Beulah AME Church in Sumter, SC where he serves as a Senior Steward, Public
Relations Chair, and Class Leader.
Britton attended the University of South Carolina Sumter where he obtained an Associate
of Arts degree and furthered his studies at USC Columbia where he graduated with a
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. He completed his Master of Public Administration Degree
at Troy State University, and has completed additional graduate work through The Citadel.
