Student Support Services

OSP is nationally known as TRIO Student Support Services, one of eight federal TRIO grant programs. The program serves 160 students enrolled at USC Salkehatchie. To qualify, students must be income eligible, first generation, and/or have a documented disability (ex: vision/hearing impairments, etc.).

 

Opportunity Scholars Program (OSP) is a federally funded program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education that identifies promising students and prepares them for college-level work. OSP serves students who are first generation, income eligible, and/or have a documented disability. Studies show students are more likely to achieve academic success when provided support services.

OSP provides information about career and financial aid opportunities, offers academic assistance, such as tutoring, mentoring, and supplemental instruction, and provides the opportunity for cultural enrichment and community service.

  • Admittance into USC Salkehatchie
  • Completion of OSP/TRIO application 
  • U. S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Meet 1 or more of the following  requirements:
    • First-Generation Student:   Your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) did not graduate from a four-year Institution.
    • Income Eligible:  Meet federal low-income guidelines.
    • Documented Disability: Have a documented disability that hinders your academic capabilities
