Reference assistance is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Reference librarians cannot give legal advice, but can help you find material to research your legal issues.
Legal Assistance
There are organizations that can help you locate low or no cost legal assistance if you qualify. Most legal services providers specialize in certain areas of law and may not be able to take on a particular type of case. For more information, please contact them directly. Public Access Computers
Computers with internet access for research and academic use are available on the Law Library’s first floor. If you are using these computers for other purposes, you may be asked to log off. There are no printers attached to these computers, but material may be emailed or downloaded to your own storage devices.
Borrowing
You are welcome to use materials in the library, but we do not lend material to the public.
You may scan a page and email it to yourself free of charge using the scanners in Room 120A, near the Circulation desk.

Inmates of jails and prisons in South Carolina may mail copy requests to:

No requests for information, or research, or legal advice can be filled.
Inmates must provide a correct and specific citation. If the requested pages cannot be found, the copy request cannot be filled.
Copies are $0.50 per page for inmates. The law library responds to a copy request with the dollar total. Please enclose a check or money order for the exact amount. Make it payable to the University of South Carolina. Do not send cash. The law library must receive the money before copies can be shipped.
Copy requests for more than 50 pages may be delayed due to limited staff time.
