Background

Brittany Padgett serves as the Court Liaison for Darlington, Marlboro, Chesterfield, and Lee counties. She assists the family court by tracking and expediting the legal processing of child protection and termination of parental rights (TPR) cases. She is responsible for reviewing case files, preparing information sheets for the court, and assisting in resolving issues to prevent delayed hearings. Before working with the Children’s Law Center, she was employed by the South Carolina Department of Social Services (SCDSS) in various positions for over nine years. She served as an Adoption Specialist for seven years and then signed on as a Regional Adoption Recruitment Program Coordinator with Winthrop University in conjunction with SCDSS. She also served as the SCDSS State Office Program Coordinator for Difficulty of Care Board and assisted with the Medically Fragile Program, and was an Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and Child Care Voucher Liaison.
