Background

Dr. Nease earned her BSN from the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, MSN (Nursing Leadership) from the University of Phoenix, and a DNP (Nurse Executive) from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

Dr. Nease began her nursing career in Richmond, Virginia, practicing at Henrico Doctors Hospital on the cardiac transplant step-down unit. Following several operational leadership roles, Dr. Nease developed a passion for nursing professional development and quality improvement, which led her to an interest in the ANCC Magnet program. Dr. Nease served as a Magnet program director and subsequent health system leader, championing nursing evidence-based practice and nursing research in the community hospital setting.

After providing guest lectures at a variety of educational institutions in Richmond, Virginia, and precepting many MSN and DNP students in the acute care setting. Dr. Nease left acute care to work with students full-time at Western Carolina University. Dr. Nease maintained a PRN position supporting community health system acute care nurses in evidence-based practice and nursing research. Following seven years of teaching Dr. Nease returned to acute care in health system leadership to again champion nursing evidence-based practice and nursing research on a larger scale. Dr. Nease is now delighted to be here at the University of South Carolina and excited to engage with students as well as practice partners.
