Background

Dr. Selph received her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2014 from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Illinois Wesleyan University in 2005. 

Teaching

Dr. Selph teaches primarily in the graduate program, including the APRN core courses Advanced Health Assessment and Diagnostic Reasoning (NURS 704) and Diagnostic Interpretation and Therapeutic Modalities (NURS 718). She has also served as chair for DNP students and undergraduate honors students. Her undergraduate teaching experience includes Health Assessment (NURS 311) and Pharmacotherapeutics (NURS 324) in the BSN program. She is a certified nurse educator. 

Research

Dr. Selph’s scholarly interests include process improvement and addressing barriers to achieving positive health outcomes among vulnerable populations. 

Professional Service

Dr. Selph has served on the Medical Affairs Committee for The Free Medical Clinic since 2014 and regularly volunteers her time at the Transitions Homeless Shelter in Columbia. She has previously served as the chair of the Community service committee for Capitol Nurse Practitioner Group and has served terms as secretary and counselor for the Alpha Xi chapter of Sigma, an international honors society for nurses. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Professional Practice

Dr. Selph is a board-certified adult nurse practitioner. She currently practices at the Free Medical Clinic in Columbia, SC and provides primary care and preventive care services to adult, uninsured, low-income patients.
