Background

Dr. Sue-Ling received a Ph.D. from The Catholic University of America, MSN-Nurse Educator and MPA from Brenau University, and BSN from North Carolina Agricultural Technical University. 

Teaching

Dr. Sue-Ling has taught undergraduate and graduate programs including health assessment, ethics, pediatrics, leadership and management, informatics, Nursing profession, and gerontological nursing. She also enjoys lecturing and simulating test-taking strategies to students which reinforce their critical thinking and improve self-seeking outcomes.

Research

Dr. Sue-Ling’s area of research is focused on addressing early heart failure readmission and associated risk factors among older African-American and Caucasian women. Her research incorporated outreach programs and presentations at health preventive forums involving underserved populations within the urban community. This research focused on a derived model that identified relationships between certain risk factors and early heart failure readmission. Recently, extra-curricular undertakings included an active role in a local Medical Alliance organization which involves improving health outcomes at the local level.

Dissemination

Dissemination activities have included presentations at the regional, national and international levels, including Preventive Cardiovascular Nursing Association, ACCN Diversity, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Research Society, Science of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), and Network Education (NET’s).

Professional Service

 Dr. Sue-Ling serves as a peer reviewer for multiple journals including:

She serves on the Editorial Board for Journal of Modern Nursing
 
Dr. Sue-Ling is an active member of various organizations including:

·      Society of Nutrition 

Professional Practice

Dr. Sue-Ling has clinical experience in Cardiology, Medical-Surgical, Gerontology, Newborn, Neonatal ICU, PICU, and Pediatrics nursing.
