Research and Teaching Interests
Dr. Bridget McFadden's research focuses on the relationship between training stress and recovery and the implications for health and performance. The primary emphasis of her research in this area involves examining the effects of training load on athlete performance and the progression of non-functional overreaching and over training syndrome. I am specifically interested in the use of endocrine, metabolic, and nutritional biomarkers to track female athlete health in association with Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S). Furthermore, I am interested in the potential efficacy of acute and chronic resistance training as well as nutritional supplements for improving functional capabilities, mental health states, and the systemic response to stress in adolescents, athletes, and special populations.
