Academics and Research
The University of South Carolina prioritizes a holistic approach to its degree programs, beyond-the-classroom experiences, and research. Designated by the Carnegie Foundation as an institution of very high research activity, the University of South Carolina student and faculty researchers are tackling some of the biggest hurdles relating to alternative fuels and climate change. A dedicated group of faculty and staff have worked to promote sustainability throughout the academic life of the university. USC incorporates sustainability into the daily lives of our students through the Sustainable Carolina Leadership Program.
The annual fall semester Sustainability Showcase is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to explore and present their interdisciplinary research related to sustainability. Participants and audience members of all backgrounds will be able to learn about sustainability in different disciplines, current research efforts, and discover opportunities to conduct your own research.
