Recognizing Outstanding Faculty

The Office of the Provost prides itself on the outstanding faculty employed by the University of South Carolina. Our faculty are recognized each spring with university-wide awards for teaching, research, service and advising. Submission guidelines and the online submission form are available on each award page linked below. Each award page includes specific information about award eligibility. Separate submission forms must be submitted for one faculty member to be considered for multiple awards.

Award Deadlines

Please note that each award is a one-time career award and former winners are not eligible for consideration. This does not preclude past winner submissions for different faculty awards. For complete submission information, please see each award.

Ada B. Thomas Outstanding Advisor Awards	Full time faculty/staff person who advises undergraduate students across USC Campuses.	November 11, 2025
Carolina Trustees Professorship	Faculty who hold the rank of tenured full professor.	November 11, 2025
Clinical Practice Teaching Award	Full time professional-track faculty members who have taught clinical practice courses at USC Columbia Campus for at least three years.	November 11, 2025
Michael J. Mungo Distinguished Professor of the Year Award	Full-time faculty of any track or rank who have taught at USC Columbia for at least five years.	November 11, 2025
Michael J. Mungo Undergraduate and Graduate Teaching Awards	Full time faculty members of any track or rank who have taught at USC Columbia Campus for at least three years (undergraduate) and five years (graduate).	November 11, 2025
Russell Research and USC Educational Foundation Research Awards	Full Time faculty across USC Campuses. Awards made in Humanities & Social Sciences; Science, Math, & Engineering; Health Sciences; and Professional Schools	November 11, 2025
USC Educational Foundation Outstanding Service Award	Full-time faculty members on the Columbia or regional campuses.	November 11, 2025

Recognizing Outstanding Staff

The Office of the Provost recognizes outstanding staff who contribute to the University of South Carolina’s success. Nominations are open to exceptional staff members from all areas of Academic Affairs. These awards highlight individuals whose exemplary work, commitment, and service reflect the highest caliber of the division. Provost Staff Excellence Award	A minimum of three full years working in an FTE role at USC-Columbia (Temporary employees are not eligible). Candidate must be in good standing with up- to-date employee evaluations on file.	December 1, 2025

Integrity Award (OSCAI)

The Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity (OSCAI) recognizes that faculty members and instructors play a significant role in developing students of integrity. To honor this contribution, OSCAI is pleased to present the University of South Carolina Integrity Award to a distinguished faculty member or instructor. Recipients of this award proactively and effectively implement a culture of academic integrity, show care and concern both for students and their development, and promote the Carolinian Creed.
