USC campus update, classes resume

Sept. 29, 2024

We’re thankful that our campus was well prepared for Hurricane Helene and is operating normally without any significant storm impact. In-person classes scheduled for tomorrow (Monday, Sept. 30) will resume.

Let us also be mindful and considerate of those who may still be experiencing difficulties. We recognize that members of our larger community suffered localized flooding and power outages that in some cases may be continuing. Others may have loved ones in the Upstate and in neighboring regions who are dealing with difficult circumstances. We are encouraging everyone to exercise patience and flexibility in coming days.

Therefore, we are making the following accommodations for students:

  • Classroom attendance will not be recorded on Monday, Sept. 30 and Tuesday, Oct. 1.
  • Assignments due and exams scheduled for Monday and Tuesday will be postponed.

Students who may have questions or concerns about classes should contact their instructor directly.

Although the worst of the storm has passed and power has been restored in much of the Midlands, there is still a chance of localized flooding around low-lying areas near the Congaree River tomorrow afternoon. Please exercise caution and monitor local alerts.

Thank you, Gamecocks, for all you do to support one another.
